Three members of the Seidokwan Academy of Judo attended the "Kagami Biraki" ceremony hosted by Judo Quebec in La-Pocatière on Saturday, the 14th of January 2006.

This traditional Japanese event marking the new year brought together those awarded a black belt promotion during the previous year.

Having passed his "Nidan" (2nd degree black belt) in June 2005, John Yarymowich attended accompanied by Sensei Iver Simonsen, technical director of Seidokwan and his practice partner François Gariépy. (Whom you will notice recieved his 1st dan at this same ceremony last year.)

The participants also benefited from a technical seminar given by renowned instructor Sergio Pessoa, 6th Dan.

John would like to extend his thanks to Sensei Gary Hayashi for his many hours of personal instruction which enabled him to pass his grading.
